Establishing Data-Driven Operational Improvement Processes

trenolab completed a project focused on enhancing SZU’s operational analysis capabilities through systematic data evaluation and simulation modeling. The project established an internal process for ex-post data evaluation, enabling ongoing assessment of operational performance. Our team conducted a thorough evaluation of operational data for two S-Bahn lines, analyzing patterns in service delivery, delays, and system performance. This analysis formed the foundation for developing targeted simulation models that replicated real-world operational conditions and constraints. The simulation work enabled testing of various operational scenarios and improvement strategies. Based on these findings, we provided SZU with specific recommendations for operational enhancements that could improve service reliability and efficiency across the network. The project delivered both immediate insights into current performance and established a framework for continuous operational monitoring. SZU now has the tools and processes needed to regularly evaluate their operations and implement data-driven improvements to better serve passengers on their S-Bahn network.
