Performance Modelling of Dublin Area
Microsimulation Analysis of Current and Proposed Infrastructure
trenolab completed a performance modeling study of the Dublin Area rail network using Trenissimo. The project evaluated proposed infrastructure changes against existing operational conditions to assess their impact on system performance. The study began with creating a Trenissimo model based on the existing RailSys model provided, incorporating current timetables and train describer data. The team validated this baseline model through both deterministic and stochastic simulations, applying current variation patterns and input delays to ensure accuracy. Following validation, the proposed timetable was imported into the model and tested using the same variability parameters as the current scenario. This approach enabled direct comparison between existing and proposed operations under identical conditions. Performance analysis focused on established KPIs from the current operational regime, allowing stakeholders to quantify expected changes in system reliability, capacity utilization, and service quality. The results provided evidence-based insights to support infrastructure planning decisions for the Dublin Area rail network.
