Paris RER C Line Improvement Study
Performance and robustness improvement plan for the Paris RER C line
The RER C line is one of five regional railway lines (RER) serving Paris. The line runs from the north-western Paris suburb of Pontoise through central Paris, across the Seine and serves several branches in southern suburbs including Versailles. it is the second-longest RER line, and since it operates with a complicated branch structure on often old commuter rail lines is highly vulnerable to delays and problems.
In this study trenolab and our partner Alius Consulting helped SNCF Transilien develop a plan for improving service on the RER C line. trenolab prepared a detailed analysis of existing operations and used this information to develop and test using microsimulation a series of infrastructure, timetable, and process improvement measures designed to improve service.
